Week 8

Got quite a bit done in the kitchen this week. Wiped down the sliding glass door and doggie door panel. I also cleaned all the upper cupboards, counters, walls, garbage can and crate. The mug cupboard is empty and clean and all the mugs are on the table for everyone to pick out their favorites. Cleaned the junk drawer and baking sheet cupboards, the dishwasher, and the cupboard fronts under the sink. That cupboard was cleaned and reorganized not too long ago. Need to get rid of all the toxic cleaning products. I also wiped down the front of the lower cupboards and drawers, but haven't done the inside of those yet. By Wednesday I need to finish the baseboards, stove, drawers, lower cupboards, the pantry doors, recycle bins, rugs, table, chairs and floors.

We will be putting our sweet dog down this week. I'll take care of his dishes and his food area. I think I'll wait to mop the floor as he'll probably leave paw prints. Oh, my heart is breaking.

December's goal is the hall with two closets, the den and the upstairs bathroom. The den will probably get attention if Doc goes out of town. Hoping Trixie will help me organize the craft supplies stored under the bed during winter break.

Week 7

I sorted through the stuff inside the secretary while watching a movie. The next day I took everything off the shelves, pulled it out, dusted it and the wall behind. Swept up a pile of kibble that Buster dropped. I rearranged the cookbooks and booklets. It looks nice. On Saturday I wiped down the wall to the corner, cleaned the toaster oven, the little table and the area behind and under. I still can't get a new broiler tray, but the air-fryer basket should be here Monday. I didn't do the sliding glass door because of the freezing temperatures from our winter storm. I was afraid the water on the glass would freeze and I'd end up with a crazier time of it. Suppose to be in the 40s early next week so I'll do it then. Also need to get the snow away from the door and doggie door. Poor Buster hasn't left the deck to do his business but the snow on the deck is so deep he has a narrow path to the other side that he can barely turn around in. Will get Dash to shovel an area for him. Poor baby!

Not many days left in the month and still have all the cupboards, counters, appliances, pantry doors, table and floor to do. I did clear off the table yesterday and rehung my plant, but I didn't dust the pedestal or all the chairs. I did scrub two of the chairs that have some weird mildew spot on them. Might need to sand and seal the chairs. Someday. I will have to do a little bit each day if this is going to be done by the end of the month.

Week 6

I finally wiped down the wall behind the garbage can. So gross. Probably should wipe it every time the garbage goes out. I redid the display case. The top shelf is filled with my patriotic Bean Babies. Lots of bears. I have one elephant and three donkeys. I only put in one donkey. Replaced the battery in the clock on the middle shelf. The bottom shelf is all vases. I didn't include my red one. Seemed out of place with only one colored. I also left in the wooden spoon my great grandfather made only because is didn't fit in the storage box.

I didn't get to the secretary. I thought about doing it Friday but ended up packing food for Doc's trip and making dessert for an event on Saturday. Only two and half weeks left in the month so I do need to get a move on if I'm going to finish the kitchen in November. Fairly quiet calendar this week, I think, so I'll try to do the secretary, the wall to sliding glass door, the toaster oven table, and the sliding glass door. I did order a new air-fryer basket for the toaster oven. Broiler pans were out of stock. Then it will be cupboards and counters and appliances. The pantry has been cleaned and organized over the last few weeks as part of the fridge and freezer clean out. Just the doors need to be wiped down. Keep plugging away!

Week 5

I did the microwave cupboard area and the outside of the fridge. I moved the dead microwave down to the library only because it was raining that it didn't make it to the shed yet. Cleaning the shelf above, the drawer and the cupboard went fast as expected. Not sure what to do with some of the stuff in the cupboard above the fridge. Dash's old fish tank is in there along with extra ice cube trays and the frosted mugs and a bread basket. I guess I'll leave the stuff for now. I put a box on top of the fridge to hold the food I send with Doc when he goes out of town. It's kind of ugly but that stuff has been in a chair and on the table for months. Dash has a habit of helping himself to things which he shouldn't. Not that being on the fridge will stop him, but maybe. There is still room for the chip basket. I should really add wiping the water stains to weekly chores. Not sure if they'll ever come off.

There isn't any good reason why the wall behind the garbage didn't get cleaned or the display case didn't get redone. There were a few times as I was cooking I thought I should wipe down that wall, but didn't. How hard is it to pull the garbage can and the dog's dishes away from the wall and wipe it? Display case and secretary are still on the list for this week. With Doc's food moved off the kitchen chair, dusting the wall leading to the toaster oven table should go quick. The toaster oven needs a little cleaning. I should also look into replacing the air fry basket and baking sheet. They are so gross and don't clean easily. Brownie's food dishes used to live under there. I wish it had better shelving. I think I might be able to put the instant pot under there. It doesn't fit well in the cupboard. I'd really like a place for the water bottles that live on the counter. I guess they could go in the closet, but seeing them reminds me to swap out my  bottle. Unless I can come up with a nice looking, functional storage solution that would fit under that table, maybe the closet would be best. I'll make a decision when I get to that section of the counter.
